Visitor Visa
Visitor Visa — Subclass 600
The Visitor visa allows eligible applicants to visit Australia temporarily for tourism, family visits or permitted business visitor activities.
Applicants must demonstrate that their proposed visit is genuine and that they have appropriate arrangements to support themselves during their stay.
Tourist Stream
This stream may be used for holidays, tourism, cruises or visiting family and friends.
Different application requirements apply depending on whether the applicant applies from inside or outside Australia.
Sponsored Family Stream
This stream allows certain eligible family members in Australia to sponsor a relative for a temporary visit.
The Department may request a security bond in some cases.
Business Visitor Stream
This stream permits limited business visitor activities such as attending meetings, conferences or negotiations.
It does not permit ongoing employment or the sale of goods and services directly to the Australian public.
Supporting Evidence May Include
- Clear purpose and proposed duration of travel
- Invitation and accommodation arrangements
- Financial capacity
- Employment, business or study commitments
- Family and economic circumstances
- Previous travel and immigration history
- Evidence supporting the intention to comply with visa conditions
A Visitor visa does not provide a right to work in Australia.
