Parent / Family Visa
Australia has several visa pathways that may allow eligible parents, children and other family members to join relatives in Australia.
The requirements, costs, processing arrangements and waiting periods differ substantially between visa categories.
Parent Visa Pathways
Parent visa options may include:
Contributory Parent Visa — Subclass 143
Contributory Parent Temporary Visa — Subclass 173
Parent Visa — Subclass 103
Contributory Aged Parent Visa — Subclass 864
Contributory Aged Parent Temporary Visa — Subclass 884
Aged Parent Visa — Subclass 804
Sponsored Parent Temporary Visa — Subclass 870
Some permanent Parent visa categories are subject to capping, queueing and lengthy processing periods. The Sponsored Parent visa is temporary and has different sponsorship and eligibility requirements.
Other Family Pathways
Depending on the circumstances, other pathways may include:
Child visas
Carer visas
Remaining Relative visas
Aged Dependent Relative visas
Orphan Relative visas
New Zealand Citizen Family Relationship visas
How We Can Assist
We can assess the family relationship, sponsorship arrangements, applicant location, age-related requirements, balance-of-family considerations where applicable and the practical differences between temporary and permanent options.
Family visas are highly category-specific. Being related to an Australian citizen or permanent resident does not by itself establish eligibility.
